Who are we?

Norvan Squadron is a unit of Pacific Mainland District of Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons We are an organization comprised of boating enthusiasts aiming to increase boating safety and enjoyment by providing education regarding seamanship and navigation, for both power-boaters and sail-boaters alike. We are a charitable, membership based organization and all teaching and administration is undertaken on a volunteer basis. Membership is not restricted to boat owners, nor owners of large yachts. In a nutshell, we are a dedicated group interested in increasing safety and pleasure on the waterways, through education. Promotional stuff ...

But I don't have a boat!

We don't care! It is a common misconception that you need a boat to take our courses or to join CPS. Many of our students are considering a boat and are looking to get some education before they take the plunge. Others have friends or family members with a boat and want to learn some safety. Arm yourself with information, just because you aren't at the wheel of your own vessel doesn't mean that you won't benefit from our courses. Many of our members don't own a boat....some are between boats, some just enjoy the social aspect of CPS (See how much fun we have!). We have a lot to offer, whether or not you have a vessel, come and check us out.

I want to join Norvan!

Excellent! Membership comes with Benefits....and we'd love to have you aboard! But first...have you taken the course? It may seem trite, but there are some hoops, albeit minor ones. CPS is an association based on safe boating, and we'd like you to join us in our basic boating course so you can learn all that you can about how to be a safer person on the water. Read More ...

What about.....?

Did you take the Boating Course at some point in the past? Looking to find your records? CPS National can help you locate what you need...

What can I do to help other boaters?

Well, the first thing you can do is take one of our courses so you can be a safer person on the water. Sure, the other guy may not have the course, but isn't being proactive a better choice? If at least you know what's going on out there, then we'll all be safer for it.

MAREP: Help improve mariner safety by sending in MAREP reports on weather, hydrographic features, or marine facilities. It's easy. GO MAREP, NOT MAYDAY! Read More ...
